The context of the discussion was about the so-called anti-religious media in America that were teaching young people that religion wasn't cool. (This was a bad thing apparantly.)

They didn't mention anything about trying to pitch kids to believe in the book of Genesis.

Aircraft Carriers Obsolete

The Chinese are developing a new weapon that is causing concern:

The U.S. Naval Institute, a pro-military organization, notes that a post on a Chinese blog considered credible by military analysts provides a description of an anti-ship ballistic missile that could hit U.S. ships from about 1,240 miles.

A senior U.S. Navy official at the Pentagon confirmed to FOX News that such a weapon is a tangible threat from China, but it isn't a new threat. And the U.S. Navy has systems, such as the Aegis missile defense system, that can counter the threat posed by the Chinese missile.

The size of the missile, according to the U.S. Naval Institute, allows a warhead large enough to inflict significant damage on an American super carrier in a single strike, and it raises the chances of evading tracking systems and reaching its moving target unscathed in less than 12 minutes.

I'm not an expert but surely carriers have been obsolete since the development of accurate ballistic missiles in the 60's? They have their use when fighting third world countries like North Vietnam, Panama and Iraq. However, if World War III had have broken out against the Soviets, they would've been sunk within hours. Similar to battleships that were left over from World War I, that were not suited to battle aircraft carriers in World War II.

Anyway, what's the worry? The Chinese are the biggest shareholders in USA Corp., and want to protect their investment.

The "Red Eye" Scandal

I'm normally thick skinned when it comes to cheap jokes about Canada, but this pissed me off.



I'm not going to get on a soapbox and holler my lungs out. But, stupid little things like this makes me more adamant that Canada fully end our mission in Afghanistan in 2011 as planned.

If they can't figure out their next door neighbour, how the hell can they have the solutions for dealing with Afghans?

Fox News and Limbaugh types really are stupid, and apparently proud of it.

UPDATE: Frum chimes in on his site, calling it very dumb. If you scroll down to the comments, the vast majority are saying "f-you Frum. There's nothing wrong with what they said." Here's a sample, from a one Patty:

I'll refrain from mentioning you were born in Canada. You think Red Eye is dumb. I pity you. You have no sense of humor and are Canadian, so who cares what you think? I don't watch the Glen Beck show, but get a load of what is going on there with this youtube. Who says the right in the US aren't aren't influenced by Evangelical weirdos?

This is why, even though I lean right of centre in the political spectrum, cannot go near people like this. I think Rush Limbaugh and his dittohead followers are not far off from this. Essentially, it's a mass of people who want to be preached to, and have something to belong to. Jim Jones knew this impulse.

Where Were These Gasbags for the Last Eight Years?

I was watching Sean Hannity's show on Fox News. He was interviewing transvestite Ann Coulter. At one point Hannity says:

This [Obama's] stimulus package is the single greatest, most massive transfer of the economy to the government.

Coulter: In know, I'm shocked!

What, the most massive transfer since 2008? Where were these jokers when Bush was doing this? They go on like the Democrats pulled this out of nowhere, without precedent.

Those people have good gigs. Feed the zombies with talk radio and books and make millions.

I believe the wrong kind is precisely what President Barack Obama has proposed. I don't believe his is a "stimulus plan" at all -- I don't think it stimulates anything but the Democratic Party. This "porkulus" bill is designed to repair the Democratic Party's power losses from the 1990s forward, and to cement the party's majority power for decades.

Again, where was this fat slob when Bush nationalized the financial industry of the country?

Breaking: Ted Kennedy Collapses in Capitol Building

I'm watching Fox News. He is suffering from a brain tumor and collapsed in convulsions at the Obama ceremony and was removed by stretcher.

Apparantly he is at the hospital and doing better.

Obama's parade is starting but he and his wife appear sombre, after witnessing the incident.

Kennedy was at a table with Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., Vice President Mondale and Mrs. Mondale, and others. While at the table, Kennedy began having seizures that lasted for several minutes. As they were carrying Kennedy out of the room, he was still seizing. President Barack Obama went out of the room with him, but he is back in the luncheon room now.
