I love the 1971 animated version of "A Christmas Carol" with Alistair Sim as the voice of Scrooge. The animation depicts the bleakness of London during the Dickens era, with an edge that you can't get on regular film. There are two instances where I got genuine chills.

I have not seen this in decades. It was always the best of the Christmas cartoons. I wondered why it had disappeared. The three hauntings are much better in animation.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it had been 15-20 years. You never see it on tv anymore. When I was a kid it was the one I looked forward to most. However, I can't help but think it was shortened.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks for the link. I have never seen that version. It does seem a bit too short but the visuals are great. Sim as Scrooge doesn't hurt either.
ReplyDeleteYeah those hauntings. Jacob Marley is done extremely well. When the Ghost of Xmas Present has those frightening children "Want" and "Ignorance" in his cloak. Brrr!
