Break out the boondoggle!
Ah Harper, where is that small government, 'Alberta Way' guy I voted for? You've chickened out.A federal economic stimulus package will likely lead to a deficit in
the $20-billion to $30-billion range for the 2009-10 fiscal year, a Prime
Minister's Office official told CBC News on Thursday.
Perhaps they can change the party name from Conservative to New Conservative Socialists, the NCS party. This is a complete nightmare, except my eyes are wide open.
ReplyDeleteThis is what minority governments get you. I've got to believe if Harper had won a strong majority we wouldn't be going down this road.
ReplyDeleteIt also shows the Tories might be afraid to head into an election against Iggy. Too bad. This might be the best time to do it. The Libs are only going to get stronger as time goes by. An election faught over a major idealogical fault line would make for a great bout. Bailout or no bailout? Let the national debate begin.
I wouldn't mind so much if it were tax cuts that created a deficit but that's another argument.
I definately wouldn't think he'd be going down this road with a majority. It would be sweet if they gave him a non-confidence vote and we had another election with him as a majority.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, the public wants to see some "fight", some effort to cope with recession. What was he supposed to do? Yes, I think he wouldn't do this with majority, on the other hand, the threat of opposing coalition forced him to announce such precautions...
