E Pluribus Unum

The Roman architecture of Supreme Court of the USA in Washington, DC.

There has been much discussion about comparing ancient Rome to the United States in the comments lately. It's clear that the Founding Fathers had Rome in mind as a model for the Republic.

  1. Jefferson carefully studied the Roman Republic. The US government is modeled on Cicero`s recommendation of three levels of government.
Rome is the only society to have the same affluence social problems, that the US is currently experiencing. The US and Rome have reached levels of prosperity that are unmatched by any other society.
Anyways Sea Salt, I am new to your Blog, and have been enjoying your material. However the retard Fydor is reducing the content. Just imagine how he is going to freak out when he reads another article about the Roman Empire. He will probably be phoning Rush Limbaugh, and complaining that only born again Christians should be allowed to live.

  2. Yeah, "get bent" Fydor and take your ultra-orthodox ignorant right-wing rantings elsewhere. We don't want your war mongering here. When the founding fathers designed the country on Roman ideas they designed it to rise and then fall just like real Rome. As Sea Salt says, collapse is inevitable. Better to fuck-off with your meaningless rants elsewhere.

----> You can tell this is Fydor himself. It's a poor attempt at a dig. Yeah, Jefferson and Adams discussed that they plan to have the US fall like Rome.... And no I never said collapse is inevitable.
